SL.AM closure system: twist, pull, ride

    Kuupäev: 04.11.2026
Northwave's new SL.AM system makes closing a snowboard boot easy: twist, pull, ride. See how to open and close the boot.

Lacing a snowboard boot can take time. Northwave's new SL.AM system solves this: twist, pull, ride. According to the manufacturer, it is up to three times faster than other mechanisms on the market.

    What is SL.AM?

SL.AM (speedlace automatic) is Northwave's automatic lacing system. Its lacing architecture distributes tension evenly across the boot, so the foot is wrapped precisely and without pressure points.

    How to close the boot

    1. Take the handle.
    2. Pull up the handle.

    How to open the boot

    1. Twist the mechanism.
    2. Pull out the tongue.

The boot is opened and closed by twisting the mechanism and pulling the handle, with no laces to tie.

    Single and Double SL.AM

    Northwave's catalogue has two versions:

    • Single SL.AM closes the whole boot.
    • Double SL.AM closes the boot in two zones: the upper and lower parts separately.

The system has a compact size and reduced dimensions.

    Boots with SL.AM

Boots with SL.AM in Northwave's 2026–27 collection are Domain, Decade, Legend, Freedom, Devine, Grace and Dahlia, some of them also in a Wide version. See the Surfshop range on the snowboard boots page.
